# How to Create a Pin on Image Slide in AhaSlides

> Let participants tap or click to drop a pin anywhere on your image, then watch every response cluster into a live heatmap on your presenter screen.

The Pin on Image slide invites participants to tap or click directly on a custom image to place a pin — their answer is a position, not a word or number. Use it to mark locations on a map, identify a part of a diagram, heatmap a product screenshot, or capture any response that benefits from a spatial answer.

## How It Works

When you present a Pin on Image slide, participants see your chosen image on their device screens. They tap or click anywhere on the image to drop a pin — that position is their response. As pins come in, your presenter screen overlays all of them on the image in real time, building up a live heatmap of where your audience is focusing.

There are no pre-set answer zones, so you can use any image and let responses cluster naturally. Participants can reposition their pin before submitting — dragging it to a new spot updates the response instantly.

## Setting Up a Pin on Image Slide

    In the editor, click **New slide** (top-left) and select **Pin on Image** from the slide type picker. You'll find it in the **Unscored** section.

  <Step title="Write your question">
    Click into the **Your question** field in the Content panel and type the prompt you want participants to respond to. Be specific about where you want them to pin — for example: *"Where would you put the primary CTA on this page?"* or *"Click on the region you think had the highest sales."*

  <Step title="Add your image">
    Click the **Add image** area in the Content panel to open the image library, then choose **Upload** (JPEG, PNG, GIF, or SVG — up to 15 MB), **My Images**, **Stock Photos** (free Unsplash photos), or **GIFs & Stickers**. A crop tool opens after selecting so you can frame the image before saving.

  <Step title="Set pins per participant">
    Use the **Pins per participant** field to control how many pins each participant can drop. The default is **1** — increase it if you want participants to mark multiple things on the same image.

    Configure any optional settings below, then save your slide.

<Tip>
  Diagrams, maps, product mockups, photos, and floor plans all work well as the base image. The image fills the participant screen, so landscape-orientation images tend to read better than portrait.

## Settings

    Toggle this on to add a countdown timer. Once it runs out, responses are automatically locked.

    Toggle this on to manually lock submissions while presenting — useful when you want to move on before the timer expires.

    Keep pins hidden from participants during the live session. Useful for reveal-style activities where you want to discuss where people pinned before showing the full heatmap.

## Presenting

Click **Present** in the top header to go live. Participants join at the access code shown on screen, see your image, and are prompted to drop their pin. As responses come in, pins appear live on your presenter view, building the image up into a heatmap in real time.
